Toby

update!

April 28, 2010

We adopted Toby at the end of August 09.  He has added a lot of fun to our lives.  Toby is ready to play "at the drop of a hat".  He enjoys playing with our daughter's great dane puppy, although he is a bit intimidated by the size of Dugan now that he is almost fully grown!  And Toby is at least as fast as the greyhounds we used to have!!  He loves to race a biker or car along the pasture fenceline.  Tom and I are grateful to Toby's original owner for turning him over to CPR so we could enjoy and love him!  Thanks for all you do!!!!

December 29, 2009

Toby continues to do well and his doctor thinks that Toby is making wonderful progress.

Toby was a big hit Christmas day. Our 11 month old granddaughter met him for the first time. He was great with her.

He has a ferocious bark and thinks he is a watch dog and that is fine with us.

Merry Christmas,
Toby's New Mom Pam

October 23, 2009 Thank you for contribtuing toward the money for Toby and his surgery!

He appears to have sight in this eye. Toby is a very good patient when having his drops put in his eye.

I will gve another update after his weekly check up.

Can we do magic again:?

Recently, this group was able in a very short time to raise the funds that Fritz, a blind standard poodle, needed to get his vision back.  Fritz is now seeing again and is interviewing a new family today.

Meet Toby - he's in much the same boat as Fritz.  Toby is a 3 year old standard poodle.  Toby was rescued from a back yard breeder where sadly, he passed on this bad gene a number of times before CPR got him and stopped that cycle.

Toby loves to play ball but sadly, he misses more passes than the Tigers.  When Toby is walked, he gets frightened of vehicles approaching from his blind side.  When people approach we have to caution them to only reach to pet from his good side.  If he looses vision in his so far so good eye, which is a possibility, he'll be blind for good.

Toby can have surgery as early as October 21.  Waiting much longer will cause permanent damage to his eye.
