Joy
UPDATE!
I've been adopted! June 6 2009 by Mereth
Vet bills to date: $396.53
Originally released to CPR from a breeder as a puppy who did not sell. We placed Joy last year but her new family accidentally allowed her to slip her leash just a few days after placement and Joy ran and was hit by a car. The owners, scared by a vet who stated the leg may have to be amputated, did not feel that they could afford Joy's ongoing care or deal with a 3 legged dog. They returned Joy to CPR.
During her recuperation, while we were having to pull and tug and medicate and change bandages and give more medicines - this girl never complained. She never offered to snap or lunge or hurt anyone working with her. She tolerated her quiet days by placing with a toy or watching the antics of the other dogs. She was a marvelous patient. Our vet staff just love her.
Several operations later, Joy is completely on the mend and looking for her forever home. She'll never be a running partner as the leg did not properly heal. She uses it for balance but the tendons and muscles are gone and she can't bear any weight on it. It doesn't slow her down any! You should see her dash around the kennel and check in with her friends everywhere. She would be great for long, leisurely walks around the neighborhood.
